No absolutes...

Just remember not to think in terms of absolutes.

If you, who cannot even turn one hair white or black on your own (w/o dyeing),

Therefore, do not swear (dealing with absolutes - making statements like "that will never happen" etc...)

Mat 5:36 And do not swear by your head, for you cannot make even one hair white or black.

Are you the creator of the world? Can you predict the future, or chart its course?

Therefore, do not deal with absolutes. Nothing is cast in stone.

No situation is too tough or impossible. . .

It's what you make out of it.

School is off to a rolling start this sem. After a few hair raising experiences of almost not getting a tutorial slot for one of my modules (read - to drop the module and find something else to take), I Thank God there were eventually enough slots with other timings that i could take.

Just that.

I had to reschedule all my tutorial slots and transform my initially perfect 3 day week into a 4 day week. Oh well, that's life. I think i can pull up my cap nicely this sem if i complete all my readings before lecture/tutorial. Better stop slacking man, if not i'm going to seal my fate into making this my final year lol.

Realise that there's quite a number of things i wanna do before i grad.
Mission trip to help disadvantaged folks overseas.
Get diving license with the NUS Dive club. I was too slow this time round, slots were all filled by the time i decided i wanted to go. hmm, shall monitor their site.

Mum was asking me earlier if i wanted to celebrate my bdae at granddad's place. . probably, but it suddenly made me shudder at how fast time has passed....

Anyway, just for your convenience if you're gg to get me something, here's a list of wants/practical needs.

Wants
1) New Guitar
2) Mic Stand
3) Condenser Mic
But of course, i won't be expecting anyone to get me these lol.

Practical Needs
1) Wallet w coin compartment, mine's long overdue for change but can't be bothered to buy one for myself lol.
2) Shoes, the kind i can wear to school if you're adventurous:)
3) Rehydration Salts, sachet form. Yes i'm not kidding, i'm running further and further so i really use this before and even during the run itself if not i'll just dry up. So you can buy me a year's supply and not bust your budget cos this is not ex.
4) Nice t-shirts or Smart Casual Long Sleeved shirts welcome too:)
5) Can't think of anything else.

This is so you don't need to crack your head for ideas, like i find myself doing and thus save you the trouble, and plus i'll prob get what i'll use:)

Oh yeah, something embarrassing happened today. I tripped and fell flat on all fours on the wet road just in front of the central lib bus stop in nus. Imagine the loads of people who saw me falling. It was a friend i was talking to who lost balance first and kinda tripped, and before i knew it, i was sprawled on the ground. It all happened too fast, so i don't really know for sure, but i think my friend might have unintentionally tripped me while trying to restore his balance. and he didn't fall in the end, what a good friend huh? So i went for lecture all wet and dirty and bruised, what a great way to make the lecturer notice you. He actually looked at me, and paused, before continuing with his lecture, fortunately. phew. I hope he doesn't remember me for the wrong things....

Pressure and Heat is on...

It's only the second week of school. But i'm already feeling the heat. My professors this semester have pretty high expectations and take a no nonsense approach to things. Their competency is unquestioned.

Besides school, perhaps i'm taking on too many things as well. Was really tired out by the first week of school and the really packed schedules. Many people have been telling me these few days to guard my time, I guess they've seen how stretched i've been.

I've also to prepare for the upcoming NUS Run on the 30th of August, Sunday. Must continue my training runs on top of everything else. Not to mention that living here on earth can be emotionally draining at times.

On a side note, since i've to squeeze more into my day these days, i've been telling myself this new pet phrase, "create opportunities". And i realise it does work! I've been able to squeeze a little more into my day by getting around stuff that should have been setbacks. It's quite interesting trying to cognitively restructure the way i think.

Well, as paul says, "may ye be transformed by the renewing of your mind!"

New Wine

I must say that God surely has his way to speak to my heart to let me live again.

It all started at FOP last saturday with the amazing worship by True Worshipers Band from Indonesia. Followed by an amazing dissection of The return of the Prodigal Son by Mark Connor. But it was really Mark Connor's message on Unity - The Power of Agreement that really spoke to my heart on Sunday morning.

I believe it was what God wanted me to hear. I was ministered to and when i responded to the altar call, I felt so set free! It was just amazing how one thing led to another that resulted in Lisa and I attending that service in Riverlife that morning. Thanks to lisa for informing me!

So I started practising what was preached that morning and yes, things started to change positively! Just by making a concious effect to listen and understand. Things even started to change with Ryan too, even though that was unrelated.

I guess what i'm trying to say is that, things in my life started to move. Change, that's what we want:)

Anyway, now i'm down with the flu and most prob h1n1 cos I was in contact with a positive case. I also Thank God for this. Sounds weird, but yeah since now i'm forced to stay home wear a mask and not go around and spread this flu, I've had time to read!!! I've been thinking alot about what are my career options so i've finished reading a Career guide and did lots of research on the net. Still undecided, but i still have time:) Might consider being an air steward and see the world before embarking on a real career hmm...

I've also finished reading a book on advice for recording guitars. My conclusion, I lack funds to fund equipment for my recording projects. It was still a good read though.

Pray i recover in time to celebrate NDP, one of my uncles booked a room at Ritz Carlton to see NDP live this Sunday! If i don't recover by then, it could really be stay home sunday for me....

Back to reading....
