unclassified thoughts

it's been a crazy week, and it's only going to get crazier nx week.

just completed a presentation on thursday, having another on monday,

followed by a really Major presentation on Thursday, which happens to be my birthday.

What a great gift right?

so besides all this stress and pressure to perform -> tiredness

i've been thinking about what a friend said to me the other day, about building bridges.

I agree, that there is such a huge disconnect between the priorities of this world...

and that of the word of God.

So how do we bridge these, to make the Word of God relevant to our lives again?

Well, I've no answer but i hope to find out in the next few years of my life

may we find a bridge while effective, can be palatable, all rich and full of goodness.

the modern church of today has alot to learn in terms of building bridges,

so do I,

and so do you.

Random

School is off to a rolling start this sem. After a few hair raising experiences of almost not getting a tutorial slot for one of my modules (read - to drop the module and find something else to take), I Thank God there were eventually enough slots with other timings that i could take.

Just that.

I had to reschedule all my tutorial slots and transform my initially perfect 3 day week into a 4 day week. Oh well, that's life. I think i can pull up my cap nicely this sem if i complete all my readings before lecture/tutorial. Better stop slacking man, if not i'm going to seal my fate into making this my final year lol.

Realise that there's quite a number of things i wanna do before i grad.
Mission trip to help disadvantaged folks overseas.
Get diving license with the NUS Dive club. I was too slow this time round, slots were all filled by the time i decided i wanted to go. hmm, shall monitor their site.

Mum was asking me earlier if i wanted to celebrate my bdae at granddad's place. . probably, but it suddenly made me shudder at how fast time has passed....

Anyway, just for your convenience if you're gg to get me something, here's a list of wants/practical needs.

Wants
1) New Guitar
2) Mic Stand
3) Condenser Mic
But of course, i won't be expecting anyone to get me these lol.

Practical Needs
1) Wallet w coin compartment, mine's long overdue for change but can't be bothered to buy one for myself lol.
2) Shoes, the kind i can wear to school if you're adventurous:)
3) Rehydration Salts, sachet form. Yes i'm not kidding, i'm running further and further so i really use this before and even during the run itself if not i'll just dry up. So you can buy me a year's supply and not bust your budget cos this is not ex.
4) Nice t-shirts or Smart Casual Long Sleeved shirts welcome too:)
5) Can't think of anything else.

This is so you don't need to crack your head for ideas, like i find myself doing and thus save you the trouble, and plus i'll prob get what i'll use:)

Oh yeah, something embarrassing happened today. I tripped and fell flat on all fours on the wet road just in front of the central lib bus stop in nus. Imagine the loads of people who saw me falling. It was a friend i was talking to who lost balance first and kinda tripped, and before i knew it, i was sprawled on the ground. It all happened too fast, so i don't really know for sure, but i think my friend might have unintentionally tripped me while trying to restore his balance. and he didn't fall in the end, what a good friend huh? So i went for lecture all wet and dirty and bruised, what a great way to make the lecturer notice you. He actually looked at me, and paused, before continuing with his lecture, fortunately. phew. I hope he doesn't remember me for the wrong things....

What's all this hype about the New Age Church?

Firstly, what's with certain churches trying so hard to please the youths of this generation that they have practically watered down the entire message of the Gospel? I'm sure that in order to preach the Gospel one does not need to don the Urim or the linen pod used to inquire of The Lord of all the past times. So most pastors nowadays would dress themselves accordingly to suit the congregation they are reaching out to, that's fine. That's dressing, that's being in context of the world, being in touch with the reality of today.

BUT, the last straw is when they start to water down the Gospel to make it more "applicable" to the youths of this generation. Good intentions, disasterous results. This isn't what the Bible exhorts us to do i'm sure. We are in the World, though not of this world. The context of our existence have changed. But the message of the Gospel will always remain the same, no question about that.

I strongly believe that if the Gospel is to be preached, it must be preached in its totality, and not to keep emphasizing on the 'nice to hear, easy to accept' aspects of the Gospel. Easy Salvations, easy Christians. Then when they start to learn more and realise that they've got more than what they've bargained for, what do they do? Either they'll feel that facts have been misrepresented to them, or perhaps worse, leave and shake the dust of their sandals at us Christians. Not a very good first impression to make with them is it?

Well just some food for thought... and of course, an update, Finally, in such a long time.... still getting into the habit.... forgive me....

I promise I'll be more dutiful in posting updates in future yeah?

LoL
